This week, 30 national winners of People Magazine's "All-Stars Among Us" were honored at the All-Star Baseball game. Volunteers from around America were honored at the game. I know that the saying goes, "Nice guys finish last." But that's just not true. I'm sure these volunteers didn't do these good deeds to get recognized, or to finish first. But that's what happened. You may get a full-hearted "Thanks," just as these men and women did at the All-Star game. But the point of volunteering is helping out people just as you would want to be helped if you were in their shoes. It's about making a difference and making others' lives better. And, to me, no matter what, those kind of people never finish last. Be proud to be a nice guy or girl...just as these volunteers were.
